"Every Homecoming season, parents who wait too long end up overpaying or scrambling for whatever’s left. By then, the best limos are gone." An Interview with Ronnie Remedies and Lacy Rodgers of Shreveport Limousine By: Rebecca Shaw

With school back in full swing, local parents are already facing the next big event on the calendar: Homecoming. While dress shopping and dinner plans often take center stage, one key element can make or break the night: transportation. We sat down with Ronnie Remedies, founder of Shreveport Limousine, and his longtime Sales Manager, Lacy Rodgers, to find out what parents really need to know when booking a limo or party bus for their teens.

Homecoming Limo Booking Tips Every Parent Should Know

Q: Ronnie, what’s the number one mistake you see parents make when booking homecoming transportation?

Ronnie: Waiting too long. Parents think they need to have every detail finalized before calling us, such as the dinner spot, the exact number of kids, and pickup times. But all you really need to reserve your vehicle is an approximate headcount and a 25% deposit. If you wait until the group has it all figured out, the best vehicles will already be gone.

Q: Lacy, what happens when someone tries to save money by booking online through a third-party site?

Lacy: Usually, they end up paying more. A lot of those websites are just resellers. They don’t own any vehicles; they take your booking, then call a local company like ours and pocket the difference. If there’s a problem, there’s no one local to help you. Booking direct is always safer and more affordable.

Q: Are there ways to save money without cutting corners?

Ronnie: Definitely. One smart way is to have the group meet at the restaurant for dinner and schedule the limo to pick them up afterward. That way, you’re not paying for the vehicle to sit outside for an hour and a half. We also tell parents to book only the time they know they’ll need. We can usually extend the reservation later if the vehicle’s still available.

Q: What about the size of the vehicle?

Lacy: That’s a big one. Parents will call us saying they booked a 14-passenger party bus and now 18 students want to go. By then, it’s too late to upgrade. If you’re unsure, book the larger vehicle. It’s better to have extra space than to leave someone out.

Q: You mentioned earlier that underage drinking is a concern. How do you handle that?

Ronnie: For the past 25 years, parents have trusted us to provide safe, responsible transportation for their teens. We maintain a clear zero-tolerance policy to uphold that trust. If any alcohol is found on board, our professional chauffeur will contact the parents, then safely return the group to the original pickup location. It's not about punishment, it's about ensuring every parent has peace of mind and every rider gets home safely.

Lacy: We make that clear to the parents and the students before the event so they know what to expect. We also prohibit vaping and smoking. Our vehicles are luxury-level, and we want them to stay that way.

Q: What should parents ask for before booking?

Ronnie: Regardless of which company you book with, request a walkaround video of the actual vehicle. Many companies still use stock photos from 10 years ago, which fail to accurately represent the vehicle's current condition, leaving the students embarrassed and disappointed. We’ll happily send a video or let you come by and see the limo in person. You should also get a written, all-inclusive quote, not just the base hourly rate. That avoids surprise fees like gratuity or fuel surcharges.

Q: Any last tips for first-time homecoming parents?

Lacy: Make those restaurant reservations early. Parents forget that restaurants fill up fast when you’ve got 16 teenagers needing a table at 6 p.m. Limited menus or pre-ordered meals can make the night run smoother, too.

Ronnie: In the days leading up to the event, ask the company for the chauffeur's cell number so you can make direct contact. Confirm the itinerary and provide a manifest of the students riding. A new feature we offer is a GPS tracking link. This provides parents with the location of the vehicle at any time during the reservation. We also provide a seating chart to help parents plan who’s riding where; that way, there’s no confusion at pickup and everyone has their spot.
